Marston Green Library will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary of Service to the community this October.
In honour of this celebration, to thank staff, customers and everyone who has been involved with and supported the library from its opening in 1968, we will be hosting a special coffee morning from 10.00 – 1.00 Thursday 23rd October. The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor David Bell and his wife Sally will be attending. To mark these four decades of service, staff at Marston Green Library will greet customers dressed in fashionable clothes best suited to the ‘Swinging Sixties’ offering refreshments (as well as books!).
Visitors to the library will be able to view a special commemorative exhibition of photographs and people’s memories depicting the history of the Library and Marston Green Village and how the library has changed over the last 40 years.
The commemorative exhibition will be on display from 23rd October to 31st December 08.

19/09/08 - Sandstone to Appeal To High Court

We have been waiting to see if the developers were going to challenge the decision taken by the Government Inspector to reject their appeals regarding the Elmdon Lane site and we are sorry to tell you, but not surprised, that they have now done this, and so the waiting continues.

Any challenge can only be on a point of law and the Inspectorate will take advice to decide if there is a legal case to answer. If they are happy that the appeal hearings were caried out properly then they will defend their decision in the High Court. If this does prove to be the case then it will be well into next year, possibly in the summer we have been told by the Inspectorate, before the case is heard.

06/08/08 - Security alert

Over the part few weeks there have been five or six burglaries in Elmdon Lane. This is obviously a dreadful experience for the home owners but as far as we know no-one has been hurt. They occur during the night and usually the intruders have gained access though the front, and sometimes very small windows. A brand new 4x4 was taken from one house and televisions and media equipment have also been stolen. We don't want to be scare-mongers, but it would make sense to close all front windows during the night as these people seem to be able to take advantage of the smallest possible openings.

Some of the surrounding properties lost their electricity supplies. Coleshill Road was shut to traffic during the morning rush hour as Firemen continued to make the property safe.
